About this product
Two jobs in one small cylinder: a camp lamp and a chemical-free mosquito trap. The lamp gives three levels – 200 lumens spotlight, 150 floodlight and 40 low – and runs 8, 10 and 20 hours respectively. The mosquito side runs a 395 nm ultraviolet ring that draws insects in, and an electrified grid behind it that kills them on contact. No liquids, no coils, no smoke.
Coverage is about 30 square metres, roughly a large tent or a seating area. It stands on a table or hangs from the hook, and a cleaning brush is supplied for sweeping the grid out.
2000 mAh battery, Type-C charging in 4 to 5 hours, about 20 hours in mosquito mode. IP44 rated, so it handles splashes and damp air but not rain.
What it will and will not do
Be realistic about this one. A UV trap reduces the number of mosquitoes in a confined space over time. It does not create a protective bubble, and it does not replace a treated net, repellent on your skin, or covering up at dusk. In a malaria area, treat it as something that makes an evening more comfortable, not as your protection.
Safety
The killing grid carries a high voltage. Switch the mosquito function off before cleaning it, use the supplied brush rather than your fingers, and keep it out of the reach of small children. Do not poke anything metal through the housing, and do not run it next to petrol, gas cylinders or anything else flammable.
