Most bright flashlights are round, and a round flashlight rolls off a table and sits badly in a pocket. The EDC23 is flat: 102.8 mm long, 33 mm across the head, 101 g, shaped to lie against a leg rather than bulge out of it. It is the shortest flat light Nitecore has built.
Two UHi 25 LEDs put out 2,500 lumens at maximum and throw a usable beam to 280 metres. The OLED screen on the side is the part owners end up relying on: it shows which level you are on, how many lumens the light is actually producing, the battery voltage and how long you have left, so there is no guessing on a dark road.
Two tail switches run it. Half-press and hold jumps straight to turbo; a full press and hold goes to strobe. A sliding lock switch gives you semi lockout (turbo and strobe still available) or full lockout, so it cannot come on in a bag.
