About this product
This is the same nine-foot sit-on-top hull we sell with a paddle alone, supplied here as a complete set with a padded backrest seat as well. If you are buying your first kayak, this is the version to get: the seat is not a luxury on a sit-on-top, it is what lets you paddle for two hours instead of forty minutes.
Without a backrest you sit on a flat moulded deck with nothing behind you, so your lower back does all the work of holding you upright. The strapped-in seat gives you a padded base, a supportive back panel and something to brace against as you pull on the paddle – which also puts more of your power into the stroke.
The hull itself is rotomoulded LLDPE polyethylene, formed as a single piece with no joins to leak and no gelcoat to crack. At nine feet long and 85 cm wide it is short enough to carry and store, and wide enough to fish from – you can turn sideways in the seat well and lean out without the boat objecting. Scupper holes through the deck drain any water that washes aboard, and if you come off you climb back on over the side rather than having to empty a flooded cockpit.
The moulded deck has footwells at several positions for different leg lengths, carry handles at bow and stern, and recesses for tackle. A paddle is supplied.
