Every inflatable paddleboard is a compromise between how it paddles and how it travels, and an entry-level board like this one is firmly on the travel side of that line. Deflated it rolls up small enough to go in a car boot, on a bus, or into a cupboard – which for most people in a city flat is the difference between owning a board and not.
The skin is reinforced PVC, the standard material for inflatable boards, chosen because it resists UV and takes a scrape without needing repair. That is the other advantage over a hard board here: coral rubble, concrete slipways and beach gravel all mark a fibreglass board and none of them bother an inflatable. If you do puncture it, a patch fixes it in minutes.
The shape is aimed at someone learning. Wide and flat is the combination that gets a first-timer standing up, because the board resists tipping rather than rewarding balance you do not have yet. It will not be as fast or as rigid as a drop-stitch touring board – that is what the Bestway Hydro-Force boards we stock are for – but for flat water, calm lagoon mornings and learning the basics, it does the job at a fraction of the cost.
