The Exbolt 65 is one of three gauges in Yonex-s Exbolt family, and choosing between them is the single most useful decision you can make about your racket after choosing the racket itself.
Strings matter more than most club players believe. The frame decides balance and swing weight; the string decides what actually happens at the moment of contact – how much the shuttle sinks into the bed, how fast it comes off, how much control you have on a soft net shot, and how the racket sounds. Changing string is the cheapest real change you can make to how a racket plays.
Gauge is the main lever. At 0.65 mm this one is the middle of the range – most players- best compromise between feel and life. A thinner string has less material between the shuttle and the frame, so it deforms further, grips harder and springs back faster – more feel, more bite, a sharper sound. It also has less material to wear through where the mains and crosses saw against each other, which is why thin strings break.
The construction is a high-intensity nylon multifilament core – many fine filaments bundled rather than a single solid strand, which is what lets a string stretch and recover – inside Special Braided Forged Fiber with an elasticity outer coating.
Yonex publish tension limits on rackets, not on strings, so string to what your frame allows. For most club players in Tanzania, 22 to 24 lb is the sensible window, and heat here bleeds tension out faster than it does in cooler places.
