This is a single cricket stump mounted on a spring-loaded base.

Bowling practice alone is the most valuable thing a bowler can do and the most tedious to organise: you need a target, and a conventional stump falls over every time you hit it, so a good session turns into a sequence of walking down the pitch to stand it back up. A spring base absorbs the hit, bends over and returns upright by itself.
