This is a free-standing basketball hoop for the poolside, on a base you fill with water. It adjusts from 28 to 54 inches, which is a wide enough range to cover a small child and an adult from the same stand.
The water-filled base is what makes a free-standing hoop work. Empty, it is light enough for one person to carry into position; filled from a hose, it is heavy enough to stay planted while a game is actually happening. When the season ends or you want the space back, drain it and it moves again. Fill it completely – a partly filled base sloshes and walks across the deck.
Height adjustment is the feature that earns its keep over years. A hoop fixed at adult height is a hoop a six-year-old never scores on, and they stop playing. Set it low, let them score, and raise it as they grow. At the top of its range it is a genuine target for teenagers and adults.
Four inflatable water hoops come with it, so you have enough for team play without buying anything else. It also takes different ball sizes, which in practice means it works with whatever ball is already at the party.
Set it far enough back from the pool edge that a player going for a rebound is not going in after it – and remember that a wet poolside is a slippery one. Keep the base out of direct sun where you can: filled with water and baked all season, plastic ages fast.
