Buck have been making knives in the United States since 1902, and it shows in the details: the grind is even, the tang is full, and the handle is moulded rather than pinned on. At this price, in this category, that is unusual.
The 673 is the small BuckLite MAX, built for hunting and field dressing. It is full tang, so the steel runs the length of the handle, but it weighs only 2.8 ounces because the handle is Alcryn MPR rubber rather than wood or steel scales. Deep finger grooves hold the grip when your hands are wet.
The blade is 420HC, hollow ground, in a drop point. Buck run their standard steel at around 58 Rockwell, which is a well-judged balance: hard enough to hold an edge through a day of work, soft enough to bring back with a stone rather than a diamond plate.
