Product description

About this product

This is the big one – a telescopic mast light on a folding tripod that turns a dark campsite, yard or work site into a lit one. 27 W of LED, with a P50 emitter firing up from the top and 300 side-mounted 2835 LEDs wrapping the column, so you get genuine 360 degree light rather than a single bright face and shadows everywhere else.

The tripod folds flat and the mast collapses into the head, so the whole thing packs down to something you can stand in a boot corner. Extended, it puts the light well above head height, which is the difference between a light you squint past and a light you work under.

A 9000 mAh 21700 cell runs it, charged over USB. The remote control is the detail people appreciate at 2 a.m. – you can kill the light from inside the tent without getting up – and the standby draw is tiny, 270 microamps with the remote armed and 88 without, so it does not flatten itself in storage.

Built from ABS and PC for the lamp with an aluminium alloy and ABS bracket.

Good for campsites and overlanding, night repairs and workshops, backyard events, and as serious backup lighting when the power goes.

Questions

Good to know

How tall does it go?

From 75 cm (29.5 in) at its lowest to 186 cm (73.2 in) fully extended, locking anywhere in between. Folded it is about 53 cm, which is why it fits in a boot corner. At full height the light sits above head height, so you work under it rather than in your own shadow.

Why does a light need 300 LEDs?

Because they run down the sides of the column rather than all facing one way. That is what gives you even light all around instead of a bright cone and dark edges - much better for a campsite or a work area than a single floodlight.

What is the remote for?

Turning the light on and off without walking to it. It matters more than it sounds when the light is on a mast outside and you are already in a sleeping bag.

Will it hold charge if I leave it in the car?

Yes. Standby draw is 88 microamps with the remote receiver off and 270 with it armed, which is low enough that it will still work after months in storage. Charge it fully before putting it away.

Is it waterproof?

No IP rating is published for it, so treat it as shower resistant rather than weatherproof and bring it under cover in heavy rain.

Can I use it as a work light?

Yes, that is one of the things it is best at. The tripod stands on uneven ground and the light sits above the work rather than behind you, so you are not working in your own shadow.
