About this product

A small battery lantern for a tent, and about as simple as a light gets. A 1 W LED behind a frosted shade gives roughly 250 lumens at the top setting, with three modes – strong, soft and flashing – through a single switch.

It runs on AAA cells rather than a rechargeable pack, which is the point. There is nothing to charge, nothing that goes flat sitting in a drawer for six months, and when it does run out you drop new cells in rather than looking for a cable.

A folding hook on top hangs it from a tent loop, and the flat base stands it on the ground or a table.

Buy it for the kids’ tent, the spare light, the glovebox, or the shelf by the door for when the power goes.

Good to know

Are batteries included?

No. It takes AAA cells, which we also stock.

Why buy a battery lamp instead of a rechargeable one?

Because it is always ready. A rechargeable light left in a cupboard for a year is flat when the power cuts; this one is not. It is the sensible choice for an emergency or spare light.

Is it bright enough for a tent?

For a small tent, a kid's tent or reading, yes. For a large family tent or an outdoor table, look at the larger rechargeable lanterns.

Is it waterproof?

Treat it as splash resistant. It is a tent-interior and emergency lamp, not a light to leave out in the rain.

How long do the batteries last?

On the soft setting a set of AAA cells lasts many nights of normal tent use. The flashing mode uses least of all.

Can children use it?

Yes - it is a single switch, there is nothing hot and nothing to charge. That is part of why it suits a children's tent.
