C3 Wet is the ceramic lube built for water. Muc-Off use Boron Nitride – a genuinely slippery ceramic compound – to carry a waterproof film that survives being rinsed, which is exactly the problem a Tanzanian rider has between March and May and again in November and December.
A wet lube works differently from a dry one. It is stickier by design, because the film has to stay put while water runs over the chain. The trade-off is that it picks up more dust, so it is the wrong choice in the dry season and the right one the moment the rains start. Many riders here simply keep both bottles and switch.
The bottle uses a pipette applicator, which makes it far easier to put lube where it belongs – inside the link – rather than over the plates and the cassette. Muc-Off state the formula is 95% biodegradable and list it for road, cyclocross and mountain biking. This is the 120 ml bottle.
