Product description

About this product

Person Pop up Tent – in stock at 361 Degrees Adventure in Dar es Salaam.

A genuine pop-up tent for four, with a removable inner that turns the outer shell into a sun pergola.

There is nothing to thread and nothing to read. The NH21ZP008 comes out of its bag as a folded frame: one throw and it springs into shape on its own. Peg the corners, run the guy ropes, and you are done while everyone else is still counting poles. That makes it the tent to hand to people who have never camped before, and the one you want when you arrive at Saadani after dark.

The shell is 210D Oxford polyester under a PU 2000 mm coating, with reinforced waterproof tape over the seams, and the groundsheet is the same fabric and coating. Both doors are double-layered: a solid waterproof panel for rain and privacy, and a B3 mesh gauze panel behind it. Open the outer doors on a hot night and air crosses the whole tent while the mesh keeps mosquitoes out.

The inner tent lifts out completely. Left on its own, the outer shell becomes an open-sided pergola for shade at the beach or beside the car, so one purchase covers two jobs.

Pitched it is 225 x 205 x 130 cm, enough floor for four adults. Packed it is a flat 85 cm disc weighing 9.3 lbs (4.2 kg), which slides into a car boot rather than onto a backpack.

Key Features

  • Automatic pop-up frame: no pole assembly, pitched in seconds
  • 210D Oxford polyester flysheet and floor, PU 2000 mm coated, with reinforced waterproof tape on the seams
  • Two double-layer doors: waterproof nylon outer panel with B3 mesh gauze behind for cross-ventilation without insects
  • Removable inner tent; the outer shell stands alone as a shaded pergola
  • Fiberglass frame: flexible, corrosion-resistant and forgiving in wind
  • 225 x 205 x 130 cm pitched, sleeping four adults, with 130 cm of kneeling headroom
  • Packs to 85 x 18 x 28 cm at 9.3 lbs (4.2 kg)

Who It Suits

  • Families and groups of three or four who camp from the car
  • First-time campers who want a tent that pitches itself
  • Beach and day trips where the pergola mode matters as much as the tent
  • Weekends in Mikumi, Saadani, Bagamoyo and Ruaha
  • Anyone arriving at camp late, in the rain, or with children to settle

Pop-up frames trade ultimate strength for speed. This is a tent for ordinary rain and ordinary wind, pegged down and guyed out. It is not a storm or high-altitude shelter, and the folded bag is long, so it is built for the boot rather than the trail.

What’s Included

  • Pop-up tent with removable inner
  • Ground stakes
  • Guy ropes
  • Straps
  • Carry bag

Questions

Good to know

How long does it take to put up?

Seconds. There are no poles to thread: take it out of the bag, give it one throw and the frame springs into shape. Pegging the corners and running the guy ropes takes another couple of minutes.

How do I fold it back into the bag?

This is the part worth practising once at home. Collapse the frame, fold the tent in half so the two sides meet, then twist the top down and over itself so it drops into three overlapping rings. It goes back into the 85 cm bag flat.

Will it keep the rain out?

The flysheet and floor are 210D Oxford polyester with a PU 2000 mm coating and reinforced tape over the seams, which handles ordinary rain well. Pop-up frames are not storm shelters, so peg it down, run the guy ropes and pitch off low ground where water collects.

Does it really fit four?

Four adults fit on the 225 x 205 cm floor with bags left outside or in the car. Three adults plus gear is the comfortable arrangement. At 130 cm you can kneel and change, but not stand.

What is the pergola mode?

The inner tent lifts out completely, leaving the outer shell standing on its own as a shaded, open-sided shelter. Useful at midday on the beach or beside the car, and it means one purchase covers both jobs.

How does it cope with heat?

Both doors are double-layered: a waterproof nylon panel and a B3 mesh gauze panel. Open both outer doors and air crosses the tent while the mesh keeps mosquitoes out.

Is it easy to carry?

9.3 lbs (4.2 kg) in an 85 cm bag. It is a car-camping tent rather than a backpacking one. The folded bag is long and awkward on a trail, but it slides into a boot easily.

How do I look after it?

Let it dry fully before packing, especially after coastal trips. Clean with a soft sponge, mild soap and cool water, never a machine wash. Store it loose and dry rather than compressed for months at a time.
