Product description

About this product

The MH12 Pro is the size most people want and the reach most people do not expect from it: 138.5 mm long, a 26.8 mm head, 82 g on its own, and a 505-metre beam. The UHi 40 LED sits behind a smooth reflector with Nitecore’s crystal coating and PDOT optics, which is how a head that narrow throws that far.

It runs two interfaces. Tactical mode puts instant maximum and strobe under the tail switch. Daily mode gives you the five brightness levels and three special modes through the side button, with indicators beside it for battery and level.

A 5,300 mAh NL2153HP 21700 cell is supplied and charges in the light over USB-C.

Questions

Good to know

What is the difference between tactical and daily mode?

Tactical puts maximum output and strobe directly under the tail switch, for when you need light now and do not want to cycle through levels. Daily mode gives you the full set of levels through the side button for ordinary use. You choose which one the light lives in.

Is 650 hours real?

On the lowest level, yes, and that level is genuinely useful for moving around a house. On maximum you are counting in minutes, as with every light of this output. The number tells you the cell is large, which is the point.

Can I use other batteries?

It is built around a 21700 cell and the supplied NL2153HP. Using an unprotected or unbranded cell in a light this bright is how people get a hot pocket. Stay with the Nitecore cell or an equivalent protected 21700.

Will it cope with the rains?

IP68 to 2 metres means rain is irrelevant and a drop in a puddle is recoverable. Rinse and dry it after a soaking, particularly on the coast.

How do I charge it?

Through the USB-C port on the light itself. A phone charger, a power bank or a solar USB panel all work, which matters when the power is off.

Is it bright enough for game viewing?

It is more than bright enough, which is the caution. A 3,300-lumen beam in an animal's eyes is unkind and in most reserves against the rules. Use a low level, keep it off the animal's face, and check the park's policy.

What maintenance does it need?

Keep the threads lightly greased, keep the O-ring clean, and do not store the cell flat. Those three habits cover almost every failure.
