300 lumens white

An OSRAM P8 LED behind a total-reflective lens for a soft, even beam out to 71 metres.

True 365 nm UV

A 500 mW UV LED, the wavelength that makes banknote threads and stains actually fluoresce.

Glows in the dark

The phosphorescent shell charges in daylight and glows, so it is findable in a bag at night.

40 hours, USB-C

A built-in 130 mAh cell charged from any USB-C cable.

Product description

About this product

The TIKI GITD packs three light sources into 12 grams. The main output is an OSRAM P8 LED at 300 lumens behind a total-reflective lens, giving a soft beam rather than a hotspot. Beside it sit a high-CRI white LED at 4,500K with a colour rendering index above 90, for looking at things where colour matters, and a 365 nm UV LED at 500 mW.

One switch cycles all three. The head is stainless steel for heat dissipation and the body is durable PC that has been made phosphorescent, so it takes a charge from daylight and glows afterwards. The 130 mAh battery is built in and charges over USB-C, running up to 40 hours at the lowest level.

Key Features

  • OSRAM P8 primary LED, 300 lumens, 71 m throw
  • Auxiliary high-CRI white LED (CRI 90+, 4,500K)
  • Auxiliary 365 nm UV LED, 500 mW
  • One-handed single-switch operation across all three outputs
  • Built-in 130 mAh Li-ion battery, USB-C charging, up to 40 hours
  • Stainless steel head, glow-in-the-dark PC body
  • IP66 rated, impact resistant to 1 metre

Who It Suits

Anyone who wants a keyring light that does more than shine. The UV is genuinely useful for checking notes at a till or a bar, the high-CRI white is for looking closely at something, and the glow-in-the-dark shell means you can find it on a bedside table during a power cut.

Questions

Good to know

Is the UV strong enough to check banknotes?

Yes. It is a 500 mW LED at 365 nm, which is the wavelength security threads and inks respond to. It is not as powerful as the P20i UV, but for checking a note across a counter it does the job.

How does the glow-in-the-dark shell work?

The plastic is phosphorescent. Leave it in daylight or under a lamp and it glows for hours afterwards, which is how you find it in a bag or on a table in the dark.

What is high-CRI light for?

Colour accuracy. Under a normal cool white LED, skin, wood and fabric all look wrong. A CRI above 90 shows them close to how daylight would, which matters if you are inspecting something rather than just finding it.

Will 12 grams survive daily carry?

The head is stainless steel and the body is impact-rated PC, dropped to a metre, IP66 for rain. It will scuff, like anything on a key ring, and keep working.

How long between charges?

With light daily use, a couple of weeks. It charges from any USB-C cable in well under an hour.

Is UV light safe?

Do not look into it and do not shine it at anyone's eyes or at skin for any length of time. Short aimed use on a note or a document is fine. Keep it away from children.

Can I use it for scorpions?

Yes, 365 nm makes scorpions fluoresce clearly. It is a small light for that job, but it works on a veranda or around a tent.
