About this product
Jerking is a technique rather than a retrieve. You do not wind the lure in; you make short, sharp pulls with the rod tip and take up the slack, and the lure darts sideways, unpredictably, like a baitfish that has just realised something is behind it. The slow-sinking design is what makes it work – between jerks the lure hangs and settles rather than popping to the surface, and that hanging moment is when most fish commit.
Noeby build the action around a single steel ball in the centre of the body. Centring the weight is what lets the lure pivot rather than track straight, which is exactly what produces the irregular dart. Noeby also note that the lure is effective fished from high ledges and platforms, where the steep line angle usually ruins a lure action.
It is made in 170 mm at 56 g and 195 mm at 84 g, in colours 016, 017, 018, 108 and 199 through 203. Noeby list the target species as yellowtail, mackerel, tuna, mahi-mahi, GT and black bass, plus Spanish mackerel and kingfish – which covers most of what is worth catching off this coast.
Important: this lure is supplied without hooks. That is deliberate, not an omission – it lets you fit hooks and split rings matched to what you are fishing for rather than to a factory average. We stock both; tell us what you are targeting and we will size them for you.
