The SG RP Club is a club-grade batting leg guard in PVC, from the Rishabh Pant line, sized from extra-small junior up to adult.
The size range is the notable thing here. Fitting junior cricketers properly is a persistent problem for schools and clubs, because most ranges offer one or two junior sizes and then jump to youth. A pad that is too long for a child reaches the hip, catches on itself when they run, and makes batting so awkward that they stop wanting to pad up at all – which is how children end up facing hard balls in inadequate kit.
The construction is conventional and sound. Cotton-filled knee rolls across the front of the knee spread the impact of a ball on the joint and let the pad hinge so you can run. Foam reinforcement sits behind them. Extra material on the top hat – the section above the knee – and on the side wing covers the two places a ball lands that a plain flat pad would miss.
The instep is the part that fails first on any pad. It is the section under the foot that drags along the ground on every single, and hard-wearing piping there is a genuine durability feature rather than a detail.
Measure before ordering: kneecap centre to the top of the shoe, with the leg slightly bent. And tell us whether the player bats right or left handed.
