CRONY's flagship blank

The Master Collection is where CRONY puts their best components: Toray carbon, Fuji SiC guides with a tangle-free top ring, a wood reel seat and cork rather than EVA.

7 ft (2.13 m), 2-piece

The standard all-round casting length, joined with a spigot ferrule rather than a sleeve.

Fuji SiC guides

Silicon-carbide rings - the hardest, slickest inserts Fuji makes - with a tangle-free top guide.

Wood reel seat, cork grip

The Golden Sparrow Eye wood seat with an aluminium hood, and cork instead of EVA.

Toray carbon blank

Japanese carbon fibre, on CRONY's most carefully specified series.

Product description

About this product

CRONY Master Collection – in stock at 361 Degrees Adventure in Tanzania.

The Master Collection is the top of CRONY’s range and it is specified accordingly. Where the rest of the catalogue mixes components, this series is consistent: Toray carbon blanks, Fuji SiC guides with a tangle-free top ring, a Golden Sparrow Eye wood reel seat with an aluminium hood, cork grips, and spigot joints rather than sleeve ferrules.

Those choices are not decoration. SiC is the hardest and slickest of Fuji’s ring materials, which matters most on a rod fished with braid – it resists grooving and sheds heat. A spigot joint puts the two halves of the blank into a continuous curve rather than creating a stiff spot at the ferrule. Cork gives feedback through the hand that EVA muffles, which is the whole point on a finesse rod.

At 7 ft, two pieces, medium power and set up for a baitcaster, the MCC5-702M is the general-purpose lure rod in the series – hard lures, vibration baits, small to mid-size plastics. It is at home on freshwater bass and on light inshore work.

An honest note on specifications: CRONY publishes its spec tables as images rather than text, and we could find no published figures at all for this exact model code – no lure rating, no line rating, no rod weight. We have listed what the series is documented to use and left the rest blank rather than borrowing numbers from a different rod. Ask us and we will measure and weigh the rod in the shop before you commit.

Buying a CRONY Master Collection in Tanzania

361 Degrees Adventure keeps the CRONY Master Collection at our showroom in Upanga, Dar es Salaam, with delivery countrywide across Tanzania. Come and handle it before you buy, or order online and collect.

Every CRONY Master Collection is checked in store before it leaves us, and our staff use the same kit in the field, so you get an honest answer on fit and sizing rather than a sales pitch.

Not sure which CRONY Master Collection suits you? Call or message the showroom and we will talk you through the options that are actually in stock in Dar es Salaam.

Spare parts and replacements for the CRONY Master Collection are easier to get here than on an overseas order, which matters once the gear is in use.

Questions

Good to know

What does the model number mean?

CRONY codes read: series and reel type, then generation, then length in feet and inches, then piece count, then power. So MCC5-702M is Master Collection Casting, 5th generation, 7 ft 0 in, 2 pieces, medium. S at the end of the first block means spinning, C means casting.

Why is the lure rating not listed?

Because CRONY has not published one for this exact code, and we will not copy a figure across from a different model to fill the gap. Ask us and we will give you the rod's measured weight and our own assessment of what it casts comfortably.

What reel suits it?

A low-profile baitcaster in the 100-200 size class, spooled with 12-20 lb braid or 10-14 lb mono. A 7 ft medium casting rod is the classic partner for that size of reel.

What can I catch with it here?

On the coast it suits light inshore lure fishing - queenfish, small trevally, barracuda on hard lures and plastics from a boat or a jetty. Inland it is a bass and Nile perch lure rod on the lakes and dams.

Is CRONY a Japanese brand?

No - CRONY is Weihai CRONY Fishing Tackle Co., Ltd, based in Shandong, China. The Japanese part is the componentry: Toray carbon blanks and, across much of the range, Fuji guides and reel seats. We would rather be accurate than repeat a marketing line.

Why cork rather than EVA?

Cork transmits vibration to the hand better than EVA foam, which is why finesse and lure rods use it. It also stays cooler in the sun. EVA is tougher and cheaper, which is why the rest of the range uses it.

How should I look after it on this coast?

Rinse the blank, guides and reel seat with fresh water after every session and dry it before it goes into a bag or tube. Salt left in a reel-seat thread is what seizes it. Check guide inserts for chips - a chipped ring cuts braid under load.

Do you deliver outside Dar es Salaam?

Yes, we ship nationwide. A two-piece 7 ft rod travels in a tube - tell us your location and we will quote transport.
