Highlights

When the sealant cannot cope

A proper roadside repair for a cut that keeps deflating.

For when sealant gives up

A cut or thorn hole too big to seal itself is exactly what this fixes.

Three plug thicknesses

Fifteen plugs in thin, medium and thick, so you match the plug to the damage.

Roadside in under a minute

Ream, plug, trim, re-inflate. No wheel off, no tyre levers.

Keep it in the saddle bag

Thorns and truck-tyre wire are a daily fact here. This belongs on the bike.

Product description

About this product

Off Puncture Repair Kit – in stock at 361 Degrees Adventure in Tanzania.

Sealant handles small punctures on its own. This is for the ones it cannot – a cut or a thorn hole too large for the latex to bridge, where the tyre keeps deflating no matter how much you spin the wheel.

The kit is a tough handle carrying a 2-in-1 tool: a reamer at one end to open and clean the hole, and a plug fork at the other to drive the repair in. Fifteen plugs come with it – five thick, five medium, five thin – in a storage pouch, so you can match the plug to the size of the damage rather than forcing one size into everything.

Muc-Off list it as compatible with all tubeless road, mountain bike and gravel tyres.

On Tanzanian roads this is not a theoretical tool. Acacia thorns, wire from disintegrating truck tyres and broken glass on the verge all cut tubeless tyres regularly, and a plug fitted at the roadside in under a minute is the difference between finishing the ride and walking. Keep it in the saddle bag, not the workshop.

A plugged tyre is a proper repair, not just a get-home fix – plenty of riders leave a plug in for the life of the tyre. Refill packs of fifteen plugs are sold separately.

Questions

Good to know

When does a plug become necessary?

When sealant alone has failed to seal the hole - usually a cut or a thorn hole too big to bridge. If the tyre is still spraying sealant after a minute of spinning, reach for a plug.

How do I fit one?

Find the hole, ream it out to clean and slightly open it, load a plug into the fork, push it in about two thirds of its length, then pull the tool out leaving the plug behind. Trim the tail flush and re-inflate.

Which thickness should I use?

Match the plug to the hole - thin for a small puncture, thick for a real cut. That is why fifteen plugs come in three thicknesses rather than one.

Do I still need a spare tube?

Yes, carry one. A plug handles most tubeless failures, but a torn sidewall or a bead that will not re-seat needs a tube. Belt and braces.

Is a plug permanent?

Often, yes. Many riders leave a plug in for the life of the tyre. If you plug the same tyre several times it is telling you something about the tyre rather than the plugs.

Will it work on my tyres?

Muc-Off list it as compatible with all tubeless road, MTB and gravel tyres. It is not for tubed tyres - those need a patch or a new tube.

Do you deliver in Dar es Salaam?

Yes. We deliver across Dar es Salaam and send nationwide to Arusha, Moshi, Mwanza, Dodoma, Zanzibar and beyond by courier. Call or WhatsApp us if you need a same-day drop in the city.

Can I buy more plugs?

Yes. Refill packs of fifteen plugs are made separately, so the tool is a one-time purchase.
