Highlights

Why a lens fogs, and how this stops it

The moisture is still there. You just see through it.

A real problem here

Coastal humidity plus a slow climb is the exact recipe for a fogged lens.

Spreads, does not bead

Condensation becomes a thin clear film instead of light-scattering droplets.

Goggles, visors and glasses

Works on riding eyewear and motorcycle visors alike.

Product description

About this product

A small bottle of anti-fog treatment for goggles, visors and glasses lenses.

Fogging happens when warm, humid air from your face meets a cooler lens and condenses into thousands of tiny droplets that scatter light. An anti-fog treatment works by changing the surface tension of the lens so that moisture spreads into a thin, even, transparent film instead of beading. The water is still there – you can just see through it.

In Tanzania this is a genuine problem rather than a minor annoyance. High coastal humidity plus a slow climb plus a hot day is the exact recipe for a fogged lens, and it happens at the worst moment – climbing slowly, when airflow is lowest. Motorcyclists stopped at a junction in Dar traffic see the same thing.

Apply a few drops to a clean, dry lens, spread evenly with a soft cloth, and buff lightly – do not scrub it off completely, the film is the product.

Questions

Good to know

How does anti-fog actually work?

It changes the surface tension of the lens so condensation spreads into a thin transparent film rather than forming droplets that scatter light. The moisture is still on the lens - it just no longer blocks your view.

How do I apply it?

Onto a clean, dry lens. A few drops, spread evenly with a soft cloth, then buff very lightly. Do not polish it off completely - the thin film left behind is what does the work.

How long does it last?

Through several rides typically, but it wears off with cleaning and handling. Re-apply when you notice fogging returning rather than on a schedule.

Can I use it on prescription glasses?

On glass and most plastic lenses, yes. Be cautious with lenses carrying an anti-reflective or hydrophobic coating - test a small area first, as some treatments interact with those coatings.

Why does my visor fog most on a climb?

Because airflow is lowest exactly when you are working hardest and breathing most. That combination of maximum humidity and minimum ventilation is when a lens fogs, which is why it always seems to happen at the worst moment.

Can I just use washing-up liquid?

It is a common trick and it does work briefly, but it streaks, attracts dust and can damage lens coatings. A purpose-made treatment lasts longer and does not haze the lens.

How should I store it in this climate?

Keep it out of direct sun and away from a hot car boot. Aerosols and solvent-based products do not enjoy sitting at 40 degrees C, and a cupboard indoors is fine. Close the cap properly - humidity on the coast gets into anything left open.

Do you deliver in Dar es Salaam?

Yes. We deliver across Dar es Salaam and send nationwide to Arusha, Moshi, Mwanza, Dodoma, Zanzibar and beyond by courier. Call or WhatsApp us if you need a same-day drop in the city.
