There are two main burners at 3 kW each under a 47 x 42 cm cast iron grate. Cast iron is the right choice here: it stores heat, so cold meat hitting the grill does not collapse the temperature, and it gives proper sear marks rather than the pale grey finish thin steel produces. Two stainless steel flame spreaders sit between the burners and the grate to even out the heat and catch dripping fat before it flares.

A separate side burner at 2.5 kW sits alongside, which in practice is where the onions, the sauce or a pot of chips happens while the main grate stays clear for meat. Above the grate there is an enamelled warming rack for holding finished food, and the single lid turns the grill into something closer to an oven – close it and you can roast a whole chicken, or simply keep the heat in on a windy evening.

Is a gas regulator and hose included?

No. The regulator and hose are not supplied, because the fitting depends on which LPG cylinder you use. Tell us which brand of cylinder you have and we will supply the correct regulator and hose with the grill - this is not something to improvise.

How many people does it cook for?

The 47 x 42 cm grate suits a family or a small gathering - roughly six to eight people's worth of meat in a round. For larger parties look at the four-burner model.

What is the side burner actually for?

Anything that needs a pot rather than a grate: onions, a sauce, chips, or keeping a pan of stew warm. It means the main grill is not shared between the meat and everything else.

Why cast iron grates instead of steel?

Cast iron holds heat. When cold meat goes onto a thin steel grate the temperature drops and the meat steams; cast iron stays hot and sears. It also gives the marks people associate with a good grill.

Does it have push-button ignition?
