The M120 is Junxing-s widely-sold adjustable compound: a 30-inch axle-to-axle bow with rotating draw-length modules and a very wide limb-bolt range. What that combination buys you is time.

A fixed-weight bow is a problem for anyone new to archery. Buy 50 lb because you think you are strong and you will develop bad form fighting it. Buy 25 lb so you can shoot properly and you will outgrow it inside a season, because drawing a bow builds exactly the muscles that let you draw a heavier one. An adjustable bow removes the decision: start where you can hold steady for twenty shots, and wind the limb bolts in as you get stronger.

Draw length adjusts the same way, with modules rather than a press, so one bow fits a growing teenager and then fits them as an adult. That is the real argument for this class of bow in a market where there is no shop down the road to re-fit you.

Let-off is 70%, which is what separates a compound from a recurve in practice. At full draw the cams roll over and you are holding only about 30% of the peak weight – so on a 60 lb setting you hold roughly 18 lb while you aim. You can hold, breathe, settle the pin and release properly instead of rushing the shot.

Be realistic about the extremes. A bow that spans 20 to 70 lb is at its best in the middle of that range; at the very bottom and very top the limbs are near the ends of their travel and the draw cycle is less smooth. What draw weight should I start at?

Whatever you can draw smoothly and hold for twenty shots without shaking - for most adults new to archery that is 30 to 40 lb, and for a teenager 20 to 25 lb. Form built at a comfortable weight transfers upwards. Form built while fighting a heavy bow never does.

Do I need a bow press to adjust it?

No. Draw weight changes at the limb bolts with an Allen key, and draw length changes by rotating the module on the cam. That is the whole point of this bow and the reason it suits somewhere without a pro shop nearby.

What does 70% let-off mean?

It is how much of the peak draw weight disappears once the cams roll over at full draw. At 70% let-off on a 60 lb setting you hold about 18 lb while aiming. It is why a compound can be held at full draw and a recurve cannot.

Is it really usable at both 20 lb and 70 lb?

The range is the manufacturer-s own published figure and it is genuine, but every wide-range bow shoots best in the middle. Near the extremes the limbs are at the ends of their travel and the draw cycle gets less smooth. Treat the ends as the limits, not the sweet spot.

What else do I need to start shooting?

Arrows matched to your draw weight and length, a release aid or finger tab, an arm guard, and a target. Arrows are the part people under-buy - an arrow spined wrong for your setup will not group no matter how well you shoot.

Can I hunt with a bow in Tanzania?

Bowhunting is legal in Tanzania but it is licensed separately and more strictly than rifle hunting - licence and area fees are charged at double the rifle rate, and dangerous game may not be taken with a bow. Arrange the licence through a registered outfitter before you plan a hunt. Target shooting and practice need no licence.

Do I need a permit to own a bow in Tanzania?

Bows and arrows are restricted goods on import, which is handled by us as the importer - you do not need an import permit to buy one from our shop. Hunting with it is separately licensed; target shooting is not.

What is in the photographs?
