Fourteen feet of dark, divisible floor: BlockOut fabric for sleeping past sunrise, and a sewn-in divider that turns one tent into two rooms.
This is the large end of CORE’s instant range, and it solves two problems at once. The first is light. Near the equator a standard tent is glowing by six in the morning and nobody sleeps past it; BlockOut fabric keeps up to 90% of the light outside, so the inside stays dark while the camp brightens. The second is privacy. A sewn-in divider splits the 14 ft x 9 ft floor into two separate spaces, which is what makes the difference between a family sharing a tent and a family enduring one. Parents one side, children the other, or sleeping one side and gear the other.
Setup is the instant system with poles pre-attached. CORE rates this one at two minutes rather than sixty seconds, because there is simply more tent to unfold and four longer legs to extend. Two people, two minutes, then peg and guy it out.
Headroom is 78 in, so almost everyone stands upright, and there are two doors, which matters once there are two rooms and somebody needs to get out at night without climbing over anyone. Ventilation is a zippable ground vent drawing cool air in and four zippable mesh ceiling panels letting warm air out. Windows, doors and roof panels are all no-see-um mesh and all zip closed.
Weather is the H2O Block system: 68D polyester rated 1200 mm, factory-taped rainfly, sealed seams, wind-rated to 35 mph.
