Highlights

A loose Hi-Lift inside a vehicle is a hazard

Twelve and a half kilos of steel bar rolling around a cabin in a hard stop is not a storage plan. This puts it on the rack, locked.

Frees up the cabin

A Hi-Lift takes up serious space inside a vehicle and is dangerous loose in a hard stop. On the rack it costs you nothing.

Fits all Hi-Lift sizes

Not just the 48 inch - the bracket takes the whole range, so it fits whichever jack you already own.

Mounts on the rack sides

Front Runner specify side mounting rather than front or rear, which keeps the jack accessible and the load where it should be.

Lockable

Takes a small wire lock, because a jack on the outside of a parked vehicle is an obvious target.

Product description

About this product

A Hi-Lift jack is 12.5 kg of steel a metre and a bit long. Inside a vehicle it takes up room you do not have, slides around on rough roads, and in a hard stop or a roll it becomes genuinely dangerous. The sensible place for it is on the outside, and this is the bracket that puts it there.

It is heavy-gauge steel with a black powder coat matching the Front Runner rack finish, and it bolts to the side rails of a Slimline II tray. Front Runner are specific about that: the jack should be mounted on the sides of the rack, not on the front or the rear. It fits all sizes of Hi-Lift jack, so whichever length you own, it will hold it.

The bracket comes as a complete kit – a base bracket, two support brackets, a handle clamp assembly, a tie down ring and the full set of bolts, washers, nyloc nuts and nut caps. The handle clamp matters: it holds the jack handle down separately so it does not rattle or work loose over corrugations.

There is provision for a small wire lock, which is worth fitting. A recognisable jack on the outside of a parked vehicle is an obvious thing to walk off with. Note that this bracket is not compatible with the Slimsport rack kit range.

Questions

Good to know

Why mount the jack on the rack rather than inside?

Because 12.5 kg of steel bar loose in a cabin is a real hazard in a hard stop, and it takes up space you need. On the rack it costs nothing and stays clean of the interior.

Can I mount it on the front or rear of the rack?

Front Runner specifically recommend against it - the bracket should go on the sides. Side mounting keeps the jack accessible and puts the load where the rack carries it best.

Will it fit my Hi-Lift?

It fits all sizes of Hi-Lift jack, not only the 48 inch. Bring your jack to the Dar es Salaam showroom if you want to see it fitted before you buy.

Does it fit a Slimsport rack?

No. This bracket is not compatible with the Slimsport rack kit range. Tell us which rack you have and we will advise on the right option.

Can I lock the jack to the bracket?

Yes, it takes a small wire lock, which is worth fitting on a vehicle that gets parked in town or at a trailhead. The lock is not included.

Will the jack rattle on corrugations?

Not with the handle clamp assembly done up. That part exists specifically to hold the handle down separately from the body of the jack.

Does it come with the jack?

No, the bracket is sold on its own. We stock the Hi-Lift jack alongside it in Dar es Salaam.

Do I need to drill anything?

No. It bolts to the existing side rails of the Slimline II tray using the hardware supplied.
