Car Awning with Aluminum Hard Case – 200x250cm Heavy-Duty Side Awning for 4x4 & SUV

Car Upgrades

A 200 x 250 cm side awning that lives in an aluminium hard case rather than a fabric bag - so branches, dust and sun never touch the awning itself. 420D ripstop rated to 3,000 mm, with poles adjusting from 160 to 200 cm.

Highlights

The case is the difference

An awning in a soft cover takes the branches, the grit and the UV for years. An aluminium hard case takes them instead.

Aluminium hard case

Branches, dust, grit and sun hit the case rather than the awning. On a vehicle that lives outdoors, that is what decides how long the fabric lasts.

200 x 250 cm of shade

Five square metres beside the vehicle - room for a table, chairs and the cooking area out of the sun.

3,000 mm waterproof rating

420D ripstop polyoxford with a PU coating that handles real rain, not just a passing shower.

Poles adjust 160-200 cm

Set the height for headroom, or drop the outer edge to shed rain and cut the wind coming under it.

Product description

About this product

Aluminum Hard Case – in stock at 361 Degrees Adventure in Tanzania.

The thing that kills a vehicle awning is not usually use – it is everything that happens to it while it is rolled up. Branches on a narrow track, grit blasted at it on a dusty road, and months of equatorial sun on a soft cover. This version puts the awning in an aluminium alloy hard case, so all of that hits the case instead.

Deployed, it gives 200 x 250 cm of cover along the side of the vehicle – five square metres, enough for a table, chairs and the cooking area. The fabric is 420D ripstop polyoxford with a PU coating rated to a 3,000 mm water column, so it handles proper rain rather than only shade duty. The frame is aluminium with 22 mm and 25 mm telescopic poles adjusting from 160 to 200 cm.

That pole range is more useful than it sounds. Set high, you get headroom to stand and cook. Set low on one side, the awning sheds rain instead of pooling it and cuts the wind driving under the edge. On sloping ground you set each pole separately and keep the fabric taut.

The hard case also looks better on a vehicle that lives on the road, and it is more secure than a zipped bag. It suits 4x4s, SUVs and campers with a roof rack, and it is the version to choose if the vehicle is parked outside year-round rather than in a garage.

Buying a Aluminum Hard Case in Tanzania

361 Degrees Adventure keeps the aluminum hard case at our showroom in Upanga, Dar es Salaam, with delivery countrywide across Tanzania. Come and handle it before you buy, or order online and collect.

Every aluminum hard case is checked in store before it leaves us, and our staff use the same kit in the field, so you get an honest answer on fit and sizing rather than a sales pitch.

Not sure which aluminum hard case suits you? Call or message the showroom and we will talk you through the options that are actually in stock in Dar es Salaam.

Spare parts and replacements for the aluminum hard case are easier to get here than on an overseas order, which matters once the gear is in use.

Questions

Good to know

Will it fit my vehicle?

It mounts to roof rack crossbars or a rack tray rather than to the roof itself, so what matters is your rack and its load rating, not the badge on the car. Send us a photograph of your roof setup and we will tell you honestly whether it will work.

Why pay more for a hard case?

Because the case takes the abuse the awning would otherwise take - branches on a narrow track, grit off a dusty road, and equatorial sun on the cover. On a vehicle parked outside all year it noticeably extends the life of the fabric.

How long does it take to set up?

A few minutes. Unclip the case, pull the awning out, set the poles and peg the guy lines. Two people make it quicker but one person manages fine.

Will it hold in rain?

Yes, at a 3,000 mm rating. Set one side lower so water runs off rather than pooling in a panel - pooling is what damages awnings, not the rain itself.

Will it hold in wind?

Pegged and guyed, in normal conditions yes. Always peg it - an unpegged awning is a sail, and taking it in before a squall is far cheaper than repairing it after.

How much height do I get under it?

The poles adjust from 160 to 200 cm, so you can set it for standing headroom or drop it lower to shed rain and block wind.

How does it compare with the canvas-cover version?

Same awning size and fabric rating. The difference is the case: aluminium hard case here, a heavy PVC cover on the other. Choose the hard case if the vehicle lives outside or on rough tracks.

How much weight does it add to the rack?

The supplier does not publish a weight. Ask us and we will weigh the unit in Dar es Salaam - it matters, because it counts against your roof rack's load rating.

Where do these figures come from?

The measurements and ratings on this page come from the supplier's own documentation rather than an independently tested manufacturer specification, and the table marks them as such. If a particular figure matters to you, ask us and we will measure the unit in the Dar es Salaam showroom before you buy.
