Highlights

Boards on the side, tray free for everything else

Recovery boards flat on a rack eat the entire tray. Move them to the side profile and the roof goes back to carrying gear.

Frees the whole tray

A pair of recovery boards laid flat covers most of a roof rack. Side mounting gives all of that space back.

Articulating design

The brackets pivot, so the boards sit flush along the side profile and come off without fighting the vehicle.

Fits more than one brand

MAXTRAX, TRED Pro and any board with the same hole spacing, so the brackets are not tied to one make.

Quick access

Boards stay reachable rather than buried under the rest of the load - which is the whole point, because you need them in a hurry.

Product description

About this product

Recovery boards are bulky, and the obvious place to put them is flat on the roof rack – where a pair covers most of the tray and leaves nowhere for anything else. These brackets move them to the side profile of the rack instead, so the boards travel on their edge along the vehicle and the whole tray goes back to carrying gear.

The brackets articulate, which is what makes the idea work in practice. They pivot so the boards sit flush against the side of the rack rather than standing proud, and so you can swing them out and lift the boards off without wrestling them past the rest of your load. Recovery boards buried under a rooftop tent and three boxes are recovery boards you will not use.

They are made from high-strength steel with a black powder coat, and they fit a range of recovery device brands – MAXTRAX, TRED Pro and any board with the same hole spacing – which means the brackets are not tied to whatever board you own today. They come with two sets of bolts: one for mounting a single pair of boards, one for two pairs. Mounting two pairs also needs the MAXTRAX mounting pin set, which is sold separately.

They fit Slimline II rack side profiles and the original Slimline rack. For a Slimsport rack you need Front Runner’s Slimsport side mount accessory bracket in addition, which we can supply. The pack contains two brackets.

Questions

Good to know

Why mount boards on the side rather than on top?

Because a pair laid flat covers most of a roof rack. Moving them to the side profile gives the whole tray back for boxes, a tent or a water tank, and keeps the boards easier to reach.

Will they fit my recovery boards?

They fit MAXTRAX, TRED Pro and any board with the same hole spacing. Send us a photograph of your boards or bring them to the Dar es Salaam showroom and we will confirm before you buy.

Can I mount two pairs of boards?

Yes - bolts for both one pair and two pairs come in the pack. Mounting two pairs also needs the MAXTRAX mounting pin set, which is sold separately.

Which racks do they fit?

Slimline II side profiles and the original Slimline rack. Slimsport racks need Front Runner's Slimsport side mount accessory bracket as well, which we can supply.

How quickly can I get the boards off?

The brackets articulate so the boards swing clear rather than having to be dragged past the rest of your load. That is the difference between using them and wishing you could.

Will they rust in coastal air?

The powder coat over high-strength steel handles it. Touch up any chips rather than leaving bare steel exposed, particularly if the vehicle lives near the sea.

How many brackets come in a pack?

Two, which is what one pair of boards needs.

Do you stock the recovery boards too?

Yes, we stock Front Runner MAXTRAX MKII boards alongside these brackets in Dar es Salaam and ship both across Tanzania.
