Highlights

Open the box without taking it off the roof

Spring-loaded latches hold the box down but let the lid open. That one detail is the difference between a box you use and a box you unbolt.

Spring-loaded latches

Open the box in place on the rack. A bracket that has to be undone first turns into a box you stop opening.

Fits low and high lid

Works with both the SBOX031 Wolf Pack Pro and the taller SBOX062, so an upgrade later does not mean new brackets.

Mounts either way

Lengthways or crossways on the rack, so the box sits where the rest of your load leaves room for it.

Lock holes built in

Take a padlock or a Front Runner rack accessory lock, which on a vehicle left in a town or at a trailhead is worth having.

Product description

About this product

Front Runner Wolf Pack – in stock at 361 Degrees Adventure in Tanzania.

A storage box on a roof rack is only useful if you can get into it. Strap one down with ratchet straps and every cup of coffee means undoing the straps, lifting the box and putting it all back afterwards – which in practice means you stop using that box for anything you need during the day.

This bracket solves that with spring-loaded latches. The box is held firmly against the rack through corrugations and side slopes, but the lid still opens in place. You reach up, open it, take what you need and close it, which is how a roof box should work.

It is made from black powder-coated steel and aluminium, finished to match Front Runner racks, and each bracket weighs about 1.65 kg. It mounts lengthways or crossways on the rack so the box can sit wherever the rest of your load allows, and it takes both the low-lid SBOX031 Wolf Pack Pro and the taller SBOX062 – so adding a Hi-Lid kit later does not mean buying new brackets.

There are lock holes built in, taking a padlock or a Front Runner rack accessory lock. Neither is included, and on a vehicle that gets left at a trailhead or overnight in a town, it is worth adding one. Each bracket holds one Wolf Pack Pro.

Questions

Good to know

Can I open the box while it is mounted?

Yes, and that is the point of the design. The spring-loaded latches hold the box down but leave the lid free to open, so you are not unbolting anything to reach a jacket or a kettle.

Does one bracket hold one box?

Yes, one Wolf Pack Pro per bracket. For a row of boxes you need a bracket for each.

Will it fit the taller Hi-Lid box?

Yes. It works with both the SBOX031 low-lid Wolf Pack Pro and the SBOX062 high-lid version, so adding height later does not mean new brackets.

Which racks does it fit?

Front Runner roof racks. If you have a different rack system, bring a photograph or measurements to the Dar es Salaam showroom and we will tell you honestly whether it will work.

Can I lock the box to the rack?

Yes. There are lock holes for a padlock or a Front Runner rack accessory lock. Neither is included - tell us and we will supply one with it.

Can I mount boxes sideways across the rack?

Yes, it mounts lengthways or crossways, so you can lay out several boxes to suit the rest of your load.

Will the box move on a corrugated road?

Fitted correctly, no - the clamp brackets pull the box down against the rack. Check the bolts after the first long trip, as with any rack fitting.

Do you stock the boxes as well?

Yes, we stock the Wolf Pack Pro alongside these brackets in Dar es Salaam, and ship both across Tanzania.
