Highlights

Change it before you cannot read it

A target face with the gold shot out stops telling you anything. You cannot see whether the group moved left, whether it tightened, or whether the last dozen arrows were better than the first. A fresh face costs almost nothing and is what makes practice measurable.

Printed scoring rings

You can see exactly where a group sits rather than guessing from holes in foam.

Pins over any foam block

Fits over the front of a standard foam target - no fixings needed beyond pins.

Cheap to replace

Change it weekly and keep the expensive foam block underneath usable.

Keeps the block alive

Shooting the same worn spot destroys foam. Moving a fresh face around spreads the wear.

Product description

About this product

These are printed paper target faces to pin to the front of a foam archery block. They do two jobs, and the second one matters more than most people realise.

The first is scoring. A face with printed rings tells you where your group actually is – left, high, tight, scattered – which is the whole basis of improving. Once the middle of a face is shot out into one ragged hole you lose that information entirely, and practice becomes shooting rather than training.

The second is protecting the foam. A foam block dies from the middle outwards, because everyone aims at the middle. Pinning a fresh face in a slightly different position each time spreads the wear across the whole block and can double or triple its life. Changing a cheap paper face to save an expensive block is an easy trade.

In this climate, keep spares dry. Paper faces go soft in humidity and tear when an arrow is pulled, so store them flat in a bag rather than rolled up in a damp shed.

Pin them at the corners, not through the scoring area, and use enough pins that the wind does not lift a corner mid-session.

Questions

Good to know

How often should I change the face?

As soon as you cannot tell where a group is sitting. For a beginner shooting a few dozen arrows a session that is roughly weekly. The face is the cheapest part of the setup and the one that tells you whether you are improving.

How does it save the foam block?

By letting you move the aiming point. Pin the face slightly off-centre and rotate its position each time and the whole block wears evenly instead of dying in the middle. That easily doubles the life of the block.

How do I attach it?

Pins at the corners, outside the scoring area, and enough of them that the wind cannot lift a corner. Never staple into the foam with anything steel and hard that an arrow could strike.

Do they survive the rain?

Not well. Paper softens in humidity and in rain, and a soft face tears when you pull an arrow. Take it off and store it flat and dry between sessions, and it will last far longer.

What size target do they fit?

They are sized for a standard foam block face. Tell us the block you are using and we will confirm before you order.

Can I use them for scoring a competition?

For informal club and practice scoring, yes. Formal competition requires faces to a specified size and print standard - tell us if that is what you need.

Do you deliver in Dar es Salaam?

Yes. We deliver across Dar es Salaam and ship nationwide to Arusha, Mwanza, Dodoma, Zanzibar and beyond. You can also collect from our shop.
