Highlights

Two willows, maximum flash

Willow blades spin tight and fast and throw more flash than any other blade shape. Two of them, on a stainless arm, is the classic clear-water configuration.

Double willow blades

The fastest, flashiest blade shape - built for clear water and active fish.

Stainless wire arm

Holds its shape and its blade alignment instead of bending out of tune after a few fish.

Grooved-underbelly head

Channels water past the head and helps the lure track straight rather than roll.

3D eyes and gill rakers

A moulded head with real detail rather than a plain lead blob.

Product description

About this product

Noeby Grande Spinnerbait – in stock at 361 Degrees Adventure in Tanzania.

Blade shape decides what a spinnerbait does. A Colorado blade is round, spins wide and slow, and thumps – good in dirty water. A willow blade is long and narrow, spins tight and fast, and flashes. Two willow blades is the configuration for clear water and active fish, where the flash imitates a fleeing school of baitfish and the lower water resistance lets you burn the lure back at speed.

Noeby build it on a stainless wire arm, which matters more than it sounds: a spinnerbait arm that bends out of alignment stops the blades running true and the lure starts to roll on its side. Stainless holds its shape. The head is moulded with a grooved underbelly that channels water past it and keeps the lure tracking upright, and carries 3D eyes and gill rakers rather than being a plain lead casting.

Behind it sits a durable silicone skirt and a chemically sharpened hook. It is made in 3/8 oz (10.5 g) and 1/2 oz (14 g), which are the two sizes that cover most spinnerbait fishing.

In Tanzania this is an inland lure – bass, tigerfish and Nile perch on the lakes, dams and rivers, worked along weed edges, timber and drop-offs. Inshore it will take queenfish around jetties and rock, though the wire arm and single hook suit freshwater better.

Questions

Good to know

Willow or Colorado blades - what is the difference?

Willow blades are long and narrow: they spin fast and tight and throw a lot of flash, which suits clear water and active fish. Colorado blades are round: they spin wide and slow and thump, which carries better in dirty water. This lure runs double willows.

How do I fish a spinnerbait?

A steady retrieve just fast enough to keep the blades turning, along weed edges, timber and drop-offs. Let it bump structure - the deflection triggers strikes. Slow-rolling it deep and burning it just under the surface both work in the right conditions.

Is it weedless?

Largely. The upturned wire arm shields the hook, which is why spinnerbaits can be fished through cover that would snag a treble-hooked lure. It is not completely snag-proof, but it is close.

Which weight should I use?

3/8 oz (10.5 g) for shallow water and a slower retrieve; 1/2 oz (14 g) for wind, depth and distance. The heavier lure also runs deeper at the same speed.

Where does it work in Tanzania?

Inland mainly - bass, tigerfish and Nile perch on the lakes, dams and rivers, along weed edges, timber and drop-offs. Inshore it will take queenfish around jetties and rock.

Should I add a trailer?

A soft plastic grub or paddle-tail on the hook adds bulk and slows the lure, which helps on a slow retrieve or in cold water. A trailer hook is also worth adding if fish are hitting short.

Why are some specifications missing?

Noeby publish no specification sheet for their wire baits - those category pages on their own site are empty. The weights and build details here come from our supplier, and we have marked them as such.

How do I look after it?

Rinse and dry it after use, and check that the wire arm is still aligned - if the blades no longer sit above the hook, bend it gently back or the lure will roll. Replace a skirt when the rubber goes hard.
