Highlights

Seven feet, packed to 42 cm

The extra 30 centimetres over the 1.8 m rod buys real casting distance and better line control - and it still collapses to the same size.

2.1 m (7 ft) extended

A proper casting length for bank, beach and jetty fishing.

Collapses to 42.5 cm

Same packed size as the 1.8 m kit, so the extra length costs you nothing in portability.

Carbon fibre blank

Lighter and more responsive than the solid glass usual in cheap telescopic rods.

Complete kit

Supplied as a full set with reel and tackle rather than as a bare rod.

Product description

About this product

Fishing Rod Full Kit – in stock at 361 Degrees Adventure in Tanzania.

This is the same idea as our 1.8 m telescopic kit with one useful difference: it extends to 2.1 m and collapses to exactly the same 42.5 cm. Because the packed size is identical, the extra 30 centimetres of rod is effectively free, and length is the single thing that most affects how far you can cast and how well you can keep line off the water.

Seven feet is the general-purpose lure and bait length. From a bank or a jetty it gets a bait out past the near margin; off a beach it lifts line over the first wash; from a boat it gives you reach around the hull. It is the length most people should choose unless they specifically need something shorter for a confined spot or a smaller angler.

The blank is carbon fibre rather than solid glass, which is what makes a modern telescopic rod worth owning – lighter, faster in the tip, and much better at showing you a bite. The limitation remains the design itself: overlapping sections never bend as smoothly as a single blank, and they need rinsing and drying to keep sliding freely.

It is supplied as a complete kit. The supplier does not itemise what is in the box; ask us and we will open one in the shop and tell you exactly what you are getting.

Buying a Fishing Rod Full Kit in Tanzania

361 Degrees Adventure keeps the fishing rod full kit at our showroom in Upanga, Dar es Salaam, with delivery countrywide across Tanzania. Come and handle it before you buy, or order online and collect.

Every fishing rod full kit is checked in store before it leaves us, and our staff use the same kit in the field, so you get an honest answer on fit and sizing rather than a sales pitch.

Not sure which fishing rod full kit suits you? Call or message the showroom and we will talk you through the options that are actually in stock in Dar es Salaam.

Spare parts and replacements for the fishing rod full kit are easier to get here than on an overseas order, which matters once the gear is in use.

Questions

Good to know

Should I take this or the 1.8 m?

Take the 2.1 m unless you have a reason not to. It casts further, keeps more line off the water, and collapses to the same 42.5 cm. The 1.8 m is the better choice for a tight bank, a small boat, or a younger angler.

Is a telescopic rod a real fishing rod?

Yes, with a caveat. Five or six overlapping joints never bend as smoothly as one continuous blank, so it will not match a good two-piece rod for feel. What it does is fit in a daypack, and a rod you have with you catches more than a better rod at home.

What exactly is in the kit?

The set is sold as a full kit - rod, reel and terminal tackle - but the supplier does not itemise the contents. We would rather tell you than guess. Ask us and we will open a box in the shop and list exactly what is inside before you buy.

What can I catch with it?

Queenfish, barracuda, mullet and snapper off jetties, rocks and beaches on the coast; tigerfish, bass, catfish and tilapia inland. A general-purpose light to medium outfit.

Can I use it for beach fishing?

For close-in beach work, yes - 2.1 m is enough to lift line over the first wash. For serious distance casting off the sand you want a dedicated 3 m-plus surf rod, which is a different tool.

Is it suitable for a beginner?

Yes, and it is one of the easiest formats to start with - nothing to assemble, nothing to lose, and quick to collapse when you are done.

How do I look after a telescopic rod?

Rinse it in fresh water after every session, then extend it fully and let it dry before collapsing it. Water and grit trapped between the sections is what makes a telescopic rod stick. Extend each section with a firm twist to seat it, and never force a stuck joint - warm water and patience free it.

Do you deliver outside Dar es Salaam?

Yes, nationwide. At 42.5 cm collapsed this ships as a small parcel - tell us your location and we will quote.
