About this product

Jig head shapes all do something specific. A football head resists rolling on rock; a darter head cuts through current; a stand-up head sits the bait nose-up on the bottom. A round head does none of those things in particular, and that is exactly why it is the most useful shape to own: it has no bias, so it falls straight, swims level and lets the soft plastic behave as designed.

The detail that matters on any jig head is bait retention. A soft plastic that slides down the shank after three casts fishes badly and looks worse. These carry an integrated bait keeper – a barb or collar behind the head that grips the nose of the bait and holds it against the collar where it belongs.

Rig the plastic nose first, threaded along the body, with the point coming out through the back so the bait sits straight. Then cast, count it down to the depth you want, and retrieve with lifts and drops of the rod tip. Most takes come on the fall.
