Soft plastics are the most versatile lures there are, and the reason is the jig head. The same bait fished on a 3 g head swims near the surface, on a 10 g head runs mid-water, and on a 20 g head works along the bottom. Change heads and you have changed lures. That is why a set like this – heads and baits together – is the sensible way to start.
The set contains 25 pieces of lead jig heads and soft worm baits with 3D simulated eyes. Rig a bait by threading the hook point in at the nose, out through the back, and seating the bait against the head collar so it sits straight – a crooked soft plastic spins and twists your line.
The technique is simple enough to learn in an afternoon: cast, let it sink while you count, then retrieve with occasional lifts of the rod tip so the bait rises and falls. Most takes come on the drop, so watch the line.
